Brief Answer:
average is around 1-2 years

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

There is little role for radiation here but chemo and targeted therapy are the cornerstones. On an average stage 4 colon cancer can survive 2-2.5 years but as his liver is riddled with cancer it may be a bit less.

However, these are averages and an individual patient may live much less or much longer.

Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.

Why not for liver?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Indranil Ghosh (7 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
difficult to deliver and no benefit

Detailed Answer:
Hyperthermia + chemo will be very difficult deliver to the entire liver without causing harm and it has not helped these patients also. Hence the current role for hyperthermia in colon cancer is for peritoenal metastases only.

However, for 1-2 liver lesions, one form of extreme hyperthermia may be used, called radiofrequency ablation but that is not possible if the liver is 'riddled with' mets.
