Is A Lump Around A Fracture A Cause For Concern?

Question: Hey there. Several weeks back I took a few punches around my sternum and definitely fractured at least one rib. Initially I thought that it was just a hairline fracture, but overtime a lump began to form where the fracture happened and it is quite obviously displaced. The situation doesn't seem to be critical as it appears that the rib simply healed with a slight outward bow in it. Is this something that I should be concerned about and that may cause me problems later on?

Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
The lump you are feeling is due to the new bone formation around the fracture site.
This lump gets remodelled and tends to flatten down gradually which may take many months or even years,however you need not worry anything about it as it shall never cause any problem in future.
