Brief Answer:
Please, report the units or upload the report to our website!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear that you are probably being treated for cancer. I understand what this means and I wish you the best of all possible outcomes.

For bilirubin, it has different units of measurement. It can be reported in mg or mmols. Please, tell me what the unit of measurement is or simply upload the report to our site and I will figure out that.

The ALP was very high after the first round of chemotherapy. This suggests that the drugs caused a liver reaction. With subsequent chemotherapy, the reaction is no longer as robust and the numbers are reducing progressively. This is a good trend and this is what you should love to see.

In all, bilirubin units need to be reported for correct interpretation. I hope to hear from you and would provide more insights and details on this.

Until then, I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Falling CEA is good news!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Falling levels of CEA means that the mets are responding to chemotherapy. This would need to be monitored for longer periods to establish the real trend.

For AlLP, reducing levels are a sign of hope and means the liver toxicity is getting better by the day.

I hope this helps. Please, what are the units of bilirubin?

Brief Answer:
Yes, CEA can go up again!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this followup question.

CEA levels are markers of multiplication and growth of the cancer cells. In this light, if the cancer cells are not totally killed and some stay to continue multiplying and growing, then the levels would increase. In summary, decreasing levels are reassuring and increasing levels are not too good.

Being on chemotherapy weakens the defense system and makes you vulnerable to infections. This is the most likely cause of your infection and the symptoms you are feeling. Pain alone at the stoma is not enough to make a diagnosis. You would need to get examined to understand what is going on.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more details if need be.

Can a person have 1 drop in cea reading at round 2 and still have csncer progression?

At present we only have 1 reading which is the drop at round 2 to 55 from 65.

Brief Answer:
IT is possible!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Only long term monitoring would be able to tell whether the cancer is progressing or not. A one time measurement is insufficient to draw conclusions on. Our wish is that it should continue to fall but at times, this is not always the case.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
