Hi.
Welcome.
Repeated COMBO tests negative after 27 days confirmed that you are free from HIV 1 infection as the antigen part rules out HIV 1 only. Antibody part of this test becomes conclusive after 12 weeks which rules out both HIV 1 and 2.But HIV 1 infection is the commonest (99%) throughout the world except certain parts of XXXXXXX So you are almost HIV free.

Hi, Doctors,

I did another 4th generation combo test and RNA PCR test in lab yesterday, both are in negative result today. It was a 48 days blood sample test. ( 23 days combo was neg; 27 days RNA was neg; 35 days combo was neg; 42 days was combo was neg ( all the test was tested in lab))
Can someone give me an idea?
It's almost 7 weeks now. I m very tired and very worry. My sore throat already happened for 3 weeks, still not get well. Symptons like swollen gland was gone. Lymph on neck and armpit was not feeling well last 2 weeks. Mild shoulder rash.
It was few times unprotected oral sex on 23/5, 28/5 and the last time was 3/6.
I cannot stand the anxiety anymore....i saw so many doctors..... Blood test evey week......

Dr. Please give me some idea!
Regards.

Brief Answer:
HIV antibody test after 12 weeks rules out HIV 2

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.

Repeating the test every week has no use. HIV 1 is already ruled out in your case with your previous negative tests. That only reconfirmed with your present tests also.
Wait till the completion of 12 weeks to get a HIV 1 AND 2 Antibody negative test and thereby rule out both.
There is nothing to be anxious as the oral sex has a very low risk and HIV2 possibility is a very rare one.Now itself you are free from HIV more than 99 %

Can you explain my RNA PCR tests result to me?

Is it reliable after 27days and 48days?

And i want to know most likely symptoms will appear in which week period? 2-3, 4-6, or later?

Brief Answer:
RNA PCR CONCLUSIVE AFTER 4 WEEKS and Reliable

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
RNA PCR is an antigen detecting test. Highly reliable. It detects the presence of HIV 1 infection as early as 7 days on wards and more conclusive by 4 weeks.
Earliest symptoms of HIV disease can occur around 4-6 weeks after the high risk contact, if there is any infection, as a 'Flu' like syndrome with fever, throat infection, body pain etc. Not occurring with all whom infected. Only 50-80% would have such syndrome. Others remain symptom free for up to 7- 10 years.

Dear Dr S XXXXXXX
If my test result is 99% negative. False negative probability is low. Why i still have to test on 12 weeks? If 6 weeka combo test and 4 weeks RNA PCR test are reliable, why still have to test on 12 week?

Brief Answer:
Combo at 6 weeks and RNA PCR can not detect HIV 2.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.

Your Combo test and RNA PCR are highly reliable and conclusive almost 100%. No doubt. That excludes HIV 1 infection. (There are two types of HIV infections. HIV 1 and 2. Incidence of HIV 2 other than XXXXXXX is less than 1%). If you want to exclude HIV 2 also, then you have to take up the Combo test or an ordinary ELISA or rapid test which can detect the antibodies against both HIV 1 and 2 after the window period (12 weeks). I hope you got the point.
