Answered by Dr. Dr. Rovena (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
It is a normal value.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

I had gone through your query!

An average normal range for white blood cells is between 4,500 and 10,000 mcl. Abnormal test results are classified by numbers that are higher or lower than this range.
So your wbc level of 7,500 (7.5) is normal.

You have nothing to worry about.

If you have any other question or doubt to clarify, please feel free to ask.I will be happy to assist you further!

Regards.

what if you have uti infection could they tell through your blood
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rovena (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Only in upper urinary tract infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

If you have a Lower Urinary Tract infection (infection of urethra and bladder) the symptoms tend to be of a local nature including:
-frequent urination, urgency to urinate, pain and burning while passing urine, blood in urine.
-The temperature is usually normal.
-The diagnosis is confirmed by urinalysis showing red blood cells, white blood cells and organisms.
Usually lower urinary tract infection don't cause systemic symptoms and wbc in blood are in normal range.

In Upper Urinary Tract infection the infection involve mainly the kidney (pyelonephritis). The symptoms tend to be systemic and serious including:
-Fever and chills
-Vomiting
-Pain in the back between the lowest rib and the hipbone.
The urinalysis show the presence of red blood cells, white blood cells and microorganisms in urine.
A full blood count will show a raised white cell count, which indicates infection.

So if you have symptoms of a lower urinary tract infection ,white blood cells count in blood usually are in normal range.
You have to run a urinalysis to confirm the diagnosis.A high number of wbc in urine indicates infection.

Hope I answered your query.
Let me know if you have any further question.

doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rovena (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
I suggest to run a urinalysis right away.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear!

I read carefully your health inquiry and I can understand your concerns.

Since you have symptoms that may indicate a lower urinary tract infection and home UTI tests are positive for leukocytes in urine ,most likely you have an urinary infection.

Lower urinary tract infections aren't considered serious conditions. In most cases, UTIs are annoyances that cause urinary discomfort.
However, if left untreated, UTIs can develop into very serious and potentially life-threatening kidney infections (pyelonephritis) that can permanently damage the kidneys.
The infection may also spread into the bloodstream (called sepsis) and elsewhere in the body and then can affect your hip.

In my opinion three weeks is a long time to wait.
I suggest to run a urinalysis to confirm the infection and get the right treatment right away.

Hope it helps!
Wish you a fast recovery.

Take care!

Answered by Dr. Dr. Rovena (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
I don't recommend to wait for three weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

There is no determined time for an untreated UTI to give complications.

I wouldn't suggest to wait for three weeks.
In my opinion three weeks is a long time. You should get examined and treated as soon as possible.

doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rovena (11 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Deep infections don't might not cause drainage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello !
Hope you are doing well.

Joint replacement infections may occur in the wound or deep around the artificial implants and in this case there are no obvious signs of infection like drainage, redness, warmth etc.
Unfortunately, many periprosthetic infections do not exhibit obvious signs and symptoms of infection.

In the absence of obvious indicators, a thorough history and a detailed examination of the patient should suggest the possibility of infection. A high index of suspicion is necessary. Often, the only symptom is the acute onset of pain in a previously well-functioning joint.

You probably another X-ray or CT-scan of the hip to see if there is fluid collection in the hip articulation or other signs indicative for surgery.

-You also should do some blood test to measure some components of inflammation in blood including the C-reactive protein (CRP) and the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR). The ESR and the CRP level provide excellent diagnostic information for establishing the presence or absence of infection.ESR values higher than 35 mm/h have been associated with deep infection.

-An additional test to help identify an infection is is to analyze fluid from your joint (Joint Fluid Aspiration).

It is very important to diagnose and treat in time an joint replacement infection.
If you feel that your pain is getting worse you should consult your orthopedic surgeon and get examined to exclude a possible infection.

Hope it helps.
Wish you good luck.

well he push in really hard said he felt no fluid and xray was good but when I had first xray it was good and still had infection so is that a good sign did not feel fluid or is that not liable an
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rovena (3 hours later)
Brief Answer:
they are good signs for sure!

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear!

The fact that your doctor has felt no fluid, the X-ray was good and your wbc are in normal range ,are good signs for sure.
The problem is that if you keep having infection symptoms (sharp pain in your case) and the pain is getting worse instead of getting better day after day, these studies can not exclude an infection.

If you keep having pain you should get evaluated again for infection including :
-X-ray
-ESR and CRP
-CT-scan
-Joint fluid aspiration.

Discuss this with your treating doctor.

Hope you get well soon!
Best Regards!
