Is Sibofix Intake For Two Weeks Safe?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, I've used antibiotics such as Cifran CT (3days) and Zeocin (5days) along with Sirlac capsules when I had loose stool about 15days back. And I also used Montair (Montelukast) for mild frontal sinusitis. Attached, the prescriptions.
But I was having giddiness, discomfort in the stomach and 2-3 not so normal stool on a daily basis. I met Gastroenterologist yesterday, and underwent all tests prescribed by him and all the test results came out normal except for ESR ( it was showing 14). Doctor had given me 1 month course (attached).
Wanted your second opinion in terms of : 1. Is 1 month course really required? 2. I understand Tablet Sibofix is an antibiotic. Is it safe to use 42 tablets over a period of 2 weeks? 3. Capsule Econorm is not widely available and I understand from Medical stores that I should pre-order as they're are quite expensive (Rs.27 per capsule); Is there any alternative medicine; 4. I'm currently using homeopathy medicine for past 3 months for gastritis and sinusitis problem, and with lifestyle changes, I’m feeling better; Earlier, I was told by homeo doctor that I can use allopathy medicines along with Homeo medicines, and that there wouldn’t be any side effects. Hope it is safe as I'd be using this prescribed course for 1 month.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in
I have gone through your reports and prescriptions

1] Usually all GI symptoms take 4 - 6 weeks to eradicate, instead of treating you in parts and calling you repeatedly the Dr has sensibly prescribed for one month, we too prefer the same mode of practice

2] Sibofix is Rifaximin and more of GI Antiseptic, it will not cause any harm but is needed to control your symptoms

3] All probiotics are expensive and econorm has been tested over years, if cost is a factor go for Actigut or Magnipro it will cost you areoun 15

4] Homeopathy is not our territory so I would prefer not to comment on interactions of allopathy to the ingredients I am not aware of

Hope this helps
