Brief Answer:
yes and no... please read on

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

rocephin is not a routinely used drug for common infections. It's reserved for more serious infections and resistant pathogens. Resistant pathogens is not a unique class of pathogens though. They're rather a diverse group of pathogens. Each group can be resistant to different antibiotics. Some pathogens can be resistant to almost all antibiotics. So the answer is that rocephin can be used for some resistant pathogens but is ineffective against the others.

So in conclusion, a culture and antibiogram are required to tell whether rocephin will be effective against resistant strains. The antibiogram tests the pathogens against several antibiotics and informs the clinician about their susceptibility to antibiotics.

I hope it helps!
Kind regards!
