Brief Answer:
Psorid( Cyclosporine)
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
Psorid is Cyclosporine. It is an immunosuppressant and its use in lactation depends on how severe the psoriasis is ?!
It is excreted into breast milk. Due to potential effects in infant, such as immunosuppression, low white blood cell count, growth retardation, cyclosporine is not recommended during lactation. Cyclosporine use during lactation is considered contraindicated by the American Academy of Pediatrics. If it is absolutely essential for treating psoriasis it is better to stop breast feeding.
This is debatable and some doctors still give it, however in my opinion if psoriasis is not very bad then consider alternative treatments like NBUVB and topicals. Pustular psoriasis and Psoriatic erythroderma warrants strong treatment and if this is the case use cyclosporine but then better to stop breast feeding and give formula feeds.
Hope this helped,
Take care.
Thanks for reply,
I stop the medicine , now the psoriasis is also improving after pregnancy , Would you please advice, can we control it by changing life style and diet. Do we have any treatment which can cure psoriasis ?
Brief Answer:
Psoriasis cure
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Psoriasis becomes better during pregnancy in some and worse during pregnancy in others. As her psoriasis had worsened during pregnancy , there is a high chance that it will improve post delivery. Psoriasis is in the genes. It can be controlled, but not cured. With good treatments it can go into remissions.
Stress, pain killers, alcohol, smoking, infections and some medicines can worsen psoriasis. Life style modification is important. Avoid stress, do relaxation exercises like yoga and pranayams. Go for a walk for half an hour daily. Eat healthy. Fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin A will be beneficial. Omega 3 fatty acids are beneficial and flax seed, walnuts and fish are rich sources.
We do not have any treatments to cure psoriasis yet. In lactation NBUVB and topical steroids and emollients are the treatment of choice.
Hope this helped,
Take care.
