Brief Answer:
Medroxy progesterone acetate is not used for abortion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to health care magic,

Medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets is not the correct medicine for medical termination of pregnancy.

It is not used to cause abortion.

There must be some mis-communication somewhere.

Medroxyprogesterone acetate will not cause abortion.

The routinely used medical drugs for abortion are mifeprestone and misoprostol.

After this pills, there will be no problem in conceiving in the future.

Please get back to your doctor, and get the right medicines prescribed.

Thank doctor for answering that, but when doctor did ultrasound test, he its just been 19 days that we had unprotected intercourse, and he said he could find pregnancy anywhere, however he pointed at something in the monitor screen and said this is a very tiny embryo 2.5mm. So giving these pills makes any sense now?

In previous reply I meant to say, doctor said he could not find pregnancy anywhere in the monitor screen

Brief Answer:
Gestational sac can be seen on ultrasound if there is pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow-up.

If you had history of unprotected sex and positive urine pregnancy test after 20 days, then you may repeat the test after couple days with new UPT kit.

However, the accuracy of UPT is about 92 to 95% and if your wife has undergone ultrasound then gestaional sac (small embryo) can be seen.

As we discussed earlier,Medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets is not the correct medicine for medical termination of pregnancy rather it is used to regularize the menstrual periods by regulating ovulation.

In my opinion, you should see some experienced gynecologist (after repeating UPT at home) who will perform ultrasound to find out the duration of pregnancy and its location.

By this way, intrauterine pregnancy can be confirmed and gestational age can be estimated.

Also,he/she can prescribe you mifepristone and misoprostol pills (abortion pills) if you do not want to continue pregnancy.

Medical termination (abortion) is possible till 7 to 8 weeks of pregnancy.

Hope this will help you.
