Is Idebenone Safe During Pregnancy?

Question: My wife is 4 months pregnant. During this visit doctor gave her calcium, iron and idegen(idebenome - 45 mg) for better supply of oxygen. According to doctor amd reports everything is going normal. Should we take this extra supplement- idegen? Is it perfectly safe during pregnancy?

Idebenone is an anti oxidant and a general supplement used during pregnancy. It does not necessarily increase the oxygen supply to the baby. It will help in otherwise general well being of the mother and baby.

If everything is normal in ultrasound scans then you can avoid taking it. It's safety during pregnancy has not been proven in any human studies.
