Brief Answer:
pregnancy category C.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concerns.

Formonide is a category C drug in pregnancy which means it should be used if the potential benefit exceeds the risk to fetus.
If your doctor has prescribed this drug to you, he/she must have felt that the benefit will be much more.
So you can take the drug for now. There is probably not much harm.

However, when you plan for pregnancy, you must discuss about this drug and its benefits and side effects for baby, with your doctor.

Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.
Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion.

Last month I visited doctor for consultation regarding the pregnancy. She suggested CCQ and folic acid tablets. I have wheezing, after taking CCQ and folic acid. But I am not sure if this is due to intake of CCQ and folic acid. Mostly I avoid using Formonide because I scared to take with CCQ and folic acid. I need your suggestion for the folllowing:
1) Can I take Formonide with CCQ and folic acid?
2) If I get wheezing which is the inhaler suggested for women waiting for pregnancy or pregnant.

Brief Answer:
no interaction between these drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Sorry for the late response.

Formonide has no serious interactions with CCQ and folic acid. You can take both the drugs together.
I do not think CCQ and folic acid can cause wheezing.

You can continue with this inhaler even in pregnancy as these drugs are safest among all classes of anti-asthmatic drugs.

If the wheezing persists in pregnancy, the benefits of taking this drug is far more than risks. So in my opinion, you can continue with this drug.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
