Is Fetzima Safe For Liver?

default
Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014
Question: I started Fetzima three or four weeks ago. I am now taking 120mg. I have hepC, severe fibromyalgia and the most severe depression I have had in over forty years. Is this medication safe for my liver. I have been crying for weeks, but this started prior to taking this med. March is hard in Alaska for me, but this year is far worse than usual? How long until it is determined if this medication is helping me?

Brief answer....given below Detailed answer.... Hello, Thanks for the query. It is a very important question and hence I would try to answer you in best of capacity. FETZIMA ( LEVOMILNACIPRAN ) is an antidepressant belonging to SNRI class and is given for major depressive disorders( MDD ). This drug can result in raised liver enzymes and hepatitis in few individuals and hence liver functions need to monitored regularly. As far as its effect is concerned, sleep, appetite, energy may show improvement in first 1-2 weeks. This change gives the first indication that medicine is working, however lack of interest in activities and depressed mood may take 6-8 weeks to fully improve. I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query. Best of luck Thanks
