Brief Answer:
No risk for HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome to HCM.

If You have had protected intercourse with prostitute then the risk of contracting HIV is highly unlikely. Also the result of ELISA test after 4 weeks and 6 weeks, are both negative, so nothing to worry as there is no risk.

The result of ELISA at 6 weeks is considered highly reliable so just calm yourself down and no need to be scared as you are safe. Get tested again after 3 months as per routine international HIV guidelines.

As your friend I will also suggest for monogamous relationship and stay away from risky behaviours to prevent the future risk of HIV and other STDs. If still any query left you can get back to me anytime.

Thank You

Thank you for your help, I am sorry I keep bothering you. I have two more questions:

I heard that the window test period can be delayed if you pick up HIV in SE Asia, such as places like Bali.

Also, isn't HIV a viral infection as well? I have the muscle aches, but no flu or fever currently....

Answered by Dr. Sunil Jangid (3 hours later)
Brief Answer:
The window period for HIV has no concern with region and it remains same.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back once again.

The window period for HIV varies from 15 days to 3 months and it has nothing to do with region, it remains same in SE Asia also so don't bother for that.

Your symptoms are due to common seasonal viral infection not related to HIV anyhow so forget about it and allay the fear of HIV. Take combination of pain killer and muscle relaxant and do hot fomentation over the affected area.

Hope this info will help you. If still any query you can ask me any time and no need to be sorry for that. Wishing you happy and healthy life ahead.

Thank You

I appreciate your patience with me, I am just very scared and want to move ahead with my life. I have never had muscle aches like this before. I just want to start exercising and sleeping again, I am constantly scared I have HIV. Could you just alleviate my fears of HIV once more? I really want to live my life anxiety free. It would mean a lot to me.

For your mental satisfaction you can go for repeat test and negative result will help to come out from this. Do regular exercises or yoga. If still not better consider counseling services. Forget get past and move on in life. Stay healthy and happy forever.
