Is ELISA HIV Test After 90 Days Of Exposure Conclusive?

default
Posted on Fri, 5 Jun 2015
Question: i was studying about the whole cause and details about the HIV. i HAVE FEW QUESTIONS.
Does ab / ag (Elfa) test is accurate after 90 days of exposure. I was studying all this days and found and compared many articles that the combo test will not be accurate after window period and may be good enough during the initial stage of the infection.
I am planning to take the test tomm only for anti bodies(ab). Can you suggest a test now. It is now 1 year and a month from my last exposure. After that i never had sex with any one and i do masturbate only, for the last 1 year. I dont want to take chances with others life. I could control myself and completely out of XXXXXXX movement. Thanks for the god who taught me a lesson.
Can you please suggest the best test i can take tomm.

Brief Answer:
Elisa for HIV 1&2 antibodies.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic.
I have gone through the details.

The elfa test which detects both antigen and antibodies is a very sensitive test after 12 weeks or 3 months. The antibodies test is negative, is conclusive after 12 weeks.Duo test is as reliable as a pure antibodies test.I do not see any need for HIV tests.

Thom test is a oral test for HIV antibodies.Though it is a very sensitive test, blood tests are reliable.
I would suggest you to go for antibodies test (Elisa for HIV 1&2) to be relieved of your anxiety.

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you

Dear Doctor,

Thank you for our response. I have actually took rapid test twice. It came back positive. If rapid test is positive and with earlier ELFA test result as positive. Should I conclude i am as HIV positive?

The question i have here then why i have got negative in Combi test did in ICTC naco. I am really confused with this contradictory result. 3 years before i had H1N1 vaccine. Does that create any cross reaction to this result?

can you suggest me the lab i can take this test which is reliable.

Brief Answer:
Retest for confirming HIV status.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.

If the rapid tests and the elfa has come positive repeatedly ,the chances of positivity are high.
Duo test may be done at earlier stage of infection, so may have come negative.
False positive results due to h1n1 vaccination is a possibility.
You can get the tests done at laboratory like Srl, lal path lab, XXXXXXX lab, metropolis etc for confirmation.
You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you
Dr Bharatesh D Basti
