Is Dronis 30 Safe For Patients With Thyroid Problems?

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: I'm a 25 year old woman; 160 cm tall and weighing 47 kilos. I had been using Dronis 30 off and on (for one month each in December, March, and June) as my boyfriend were in a long distance relationship and were not meeting regularly. However, next month, we shall move in together and I plan to begin taking it on a regular basis. However, a recent test (conducted for purposes of diagnosing the cause of a stomach infection) revealed that I have elevated levels of TSH (6.18) in my system. The doctor has not prescribed any medication, but has advised that I follow a balanced regular diet and get plenty of exercise. Given the diagnosis, is it advisable that I take oral contraceptives? If so, is Dronis 30 a safe option?

Brief Answer:
No problem with continuing Dronis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.

TSH 6.18 is slightly high for your age. I suggest you to repeat a thyroid function test and anti thyroid peroxide antibodies. If you are planning pregnancy, your TSH has to be below 2.5.

There is no issues with continuing oral contraceptives- Dronis 30 with regards to thyroid problems.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
