Increased pulse rate could be due to many reasons -
1. Heart disease
2. A low hemoglobin level
3. Fever
4. Side effect of certain medications
5. Overactive thyroid
6. Electrolyte imbalance
7. Increased physical activity

If it is persistently high, get an EKG done for evaluation.
