Brief Answer:
likely to be muscle pull/strain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

This kind of neck pain is likely related to muscle pull/strain,so I will keep the first and most likely possibility of muscle pull or strain here.

Take proper rest to the pulled/strained muscle. Avoid any activity or exercise that involve painful muscles.

Icing over the affected muscle of neck area (for 10 to 20 minutes). Ice is a very effective anti-inflammatory and pain-reliever.

Application of pain relieving gel will also give you some relief from pain.

You can also take with pain killer (like Ibuprofen 400 mg or diclofenac 20) in combination with muscle relaxant (dicyclomine 20 mg) one tablet twice a day after meals.

Vitamin B complex, folic acid and vitamin C would also be helpful in speedy recovery.

Mostly, your symptoms will subside within 2 to 3 days and there is no need to worry much,

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Take care and regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra

I dont feel like its a strain or pull. It feels like its directly where my pulse is in neck. I was thinking clogged artery . seems little swollen or tender where pulse it. Ive had it in same spot a few times. Seems to happend ever 6 months or so. Ive had strains and pulls snd it isnt that same feeling.

Brief Answer:
Examinaton and ultrasound wil require to rule out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the immediate response.

If it does not feel to be having pull or strain and if you are suspecting some clogged artery because of swollen and tender area then better to rule out it for which you will require to see doctor.

The doctor will examine it and may order ultrasound of local part (if needed) to rule out it.

However, there is very unlikely to be having clogged artery which produces much more symptoms than just a neck pain but better to rule out it for a safer side.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
