What Causes Nausea And Acid Reflux After Having Blunt Abdominal Trauma?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: I was knocked quite hard in the ribs during a basketball game one week ago. It bruised up quite substantially and i have felt a little nauseated and refluxy since. I had my gallbladder removed 4 years ago, the knock was to that area. Bruising has gone down (almost completely), it still tender, am still quite nauseated and refluxy. Could this be anything more sinister than just a bit of internal bruising?

Brief Answer:
Further assessment by Physician required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

In view of symptoms arising after blunt abdominal trauma , further evaluation by clinical examination and Ultrasound scan of abdomen is indicated. Nausea / reflux symptoms are unlikely to be due to any major internal injury , but still requires further assessment .

I would suggest you to consult your Physician for further assessment. In the meantime I would suggest you the following

1. Adequate bed rest

2. Soft diet

3. Plenty of oral fluids

4. Avoid carbonated /caffeinated /alcoholic beverages.

5. Antacid like Pantoprozole along with gastric motility increasing drug like Domperidone will be helpful to reduce symptoms.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life.

Take care
