What Causes Pain That Radiates To The Right Buttocks And Hips

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Apr 2017
Question: I thought I had sciatica. I might but I have pain that seems to radiate from the upper middle part of my right buttocksto my right hip and sometimes down the side of my leg to come around the front of my leg below my knee. The pain is excruciating at times in my hip. Never had sciatic pain this bad before. Feels like something is in there pinching or squeezing. Almost like a severe muscle spasm while walking especially.

Brief Answer:
Typical Sciatica

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

You are describing the classical picture of sciatica.

Plastic radiates from the lower back or buttocks to the leg and foot. Sometimes associated with tingling and numbness.

Avoid bending forwards or lifting weights. Apply hot packs to the affected region. Take Tablet Diclofenac with Thicolchicoside combination twice a day for 5 days. This is a prescription medicine.

Do get an Xray and MRI of the lumbosacral spine to look for slip disc or lumbar canal stenosis.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Regards,

Dr. Aashish Raghu
