Suggest Remedies To Unclog Ears

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: I have had water stuck in my ear from a swimming pool. it's been about 5 days. I tried special drops from the store, sleeping on the side of the ear, and mineral oil. nothing is working and I can't hear anything out of my left ear. my primary doctor is out of town for awhile. is this something he can deal with or is it something an ear specialist does? what is the procedure to unclog the ear?

Brief Answer:
Ear plugged

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having plugged ears. You have tried over the counter remedies but these are not working. I would recommend that you go to an urgent care center and have them check your ear. You need someone to look in the ear canal to see what is blocking your ear drum. There could be wax up against the ear drum and that can be removed by the UC taking warm water irrigation. This will cause immediate relief of the plugged ear. If there is fluid behind the ear then you may need to be on antibiotics or decongestants to release that fluid.

In summary
1. Plugged ear
2. Visit urgent care center
3. If wax it can be irrigated out for immediate relief
4. Fluid behind ear needs decongestants and antibiotics.
