Suggest Medication For Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2016
Question: I have been lifting weights for a long time now and around 3 months ago I developed a pain in the lower back for which I had consulted with Dr. Aashish XXXXXXX Dr. XXXXXXX advised me to rest for 2 weeks and take Ibuprofen 400 Mg,Thicolcicoside 8 mg and Ranitidine 150 mg twice a day. These medications along with the application of a hot water bag helped me recover in 2 weeks time. I then resumed weight lifting and also got a lumbosacral X-ray done. The x-ray showed that there was wear and tear in my back and showed signs of early spondylosis. The doctor who examined me at the hospital said that I could lift weights but that I should avoid doing any exercise that required me to bend forward. Yesterday while working out,I developed a slight pain in the lower back (I happened to do an exercise that required me to bend forward). My question is: Should I take ibuprofen 400 mg and thicolcicoside again? Or is there some other medication I need to take?

Thanks for the help.

Regards,

xxxxxxx

Brief Answer:
Same medicines will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
It seems that bending forward has again strained your back muscles. For this you need to give your back some rest and again take the same medication- Ibuprofen and thiocolchicoside after meals. Doing a hot compress and applying a local analgesic gel in the area will also help.
I hope this answers your query.
