Is Pregnancy Possible After Having Menstrual Bleeding Post Intercourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Oct 2017
Question: I had unprotected sex in July. I had my period in July (two weeks later) and in August. I am a week late for my period in September. I am 46. I have not taken a pregnancy test yet. Could I be pregnant or could this be the start of menopause?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to perimenopause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Since you had periods twice after having an unprotected sex pregnancy is not a possibility. The delay in periods now could be due to changes in hormones related to menopause. No need to worry.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Brief Answer:
Yes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.

You can get your serum FSH levels evaluated to find out if it is related to menopausal hormonal changes.
Hope my answer is helpful.
