Brief Answer:
Throat swab culture and sensitivity test

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Recurrent streptococcal throat needs to be treated with antibiotics to which the organism is sensitive. If untreated well, it keeps on recurring as bacteria will stay dormant in the throat mucosa for longer periods.

I suggest you to get a Throat swab culture and antibiotic sensitivity test done. The test will identify the strain of streptococcus which is causing the infection and also determines the best antibiotics which act well on the same. Treating you with the same antibiotic will cure the infection and prevent recurrence.

Get the test at the earliest, once you have given the sample gargle with antiseptic solution like Chlorhexidine til you get the test report.

I saw a doctor nov 1st due to overall fatigue, difficult biking to and from classes, becomig out of breath quickly despite being in shape and biking daily wihiut issue prior, and catching colds/ infection like symptoms every week. The doctor had blood drawn to check vitamin d, b12, iron, mono, and other things as well. All of which that i got back came back normal except the b12 level was slightly high. I did not get the mono test back yet. She suggested since i had two rounds of antibiotics within a month time frame that this may have lowered my immune system making me more comprable to catching things. Which adds to my hesitance to get antibiotics again

Brief Answer:
What if bacteria is resistant to both

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Sorry for my delayed response.

The fact that the infection has recurred indicates that the bacteria is not sensitive to the antibiotics you have taken in past.

The best way to defeat an recurrent infection is by culturing the bacteria in lab and determining which antibiotic will kill them to the last one. This will make sure that the infection does not recur.
