Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Firstly, please get your wife tested by a specialist and get the pregnancy confirmed through a HPT or a blood test followed by a trans-vaginal sonogram to know the age of pregnancy and also the location of the sac.

If pregnancy is confirmed, you can opt for medical abortion until 9 weeks and surgical evacuation is needed after that period. All the while, the process should be supervised by a specialist in order to avoid future complications and also an incomplete abortion with its unwanted consequences.

If this procedure is followed, there should be no problem with future pregnancies, but I would ask you to use some form of regular contraception until such time when you wish a pregnancy. Repeated abortions are harmful to the health of the mother and also when a pregnancy is really wished for, can cause abortions as the uterus gets irritable.

Hope your query has been answered. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

Brief Answer:
Yes, you can go for medical abortion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

Yes, you can go for medical abortion as it is an early pregnancy, but, please do consult a specialist and get the abortion process properly supervised to avoid complications. A properly performed abortion will not give rise to any future complications.

Once the process is over, please abstain from intercourse for two weeks after the abortion and before you get into sexual contact again, get your choice of contraception. You can use barrier methods, oral pills, injectable hormones, intrauterine devices etc., and the best choice suitable for your wife will be decided by your attending consultant. Low dose pills are usually good for 2-3 years with minimal side effects.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for any more information. I will be ready to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
