I think the most obvious answer is to be hyper alert.

To make yourself alert the basic principles of good health apply which includes

1. Sleep- You need to complete your sleep as per your body requirements. For a average person the sleep requirement is five to eight hours a day. It is also adisable to take a power nap of 15 to 30 minutes after lunch in afternoon. It rejuvenates your mind and keeps you fresh.

2. Exercise- To keep your mind and body healthy, you need at least one hour of exercise a day. This could be in form of hitting a gym or going for a walk or cycling, whatever suits you. The most suitable time to go gym is in the morning at sunset or before it.

3. Ensure adequate water intake: Follow rule of 1 which i usually advise. 1 glass of water 1 hour before and 1 glass of water 1 hour after every meals will ensure adequate consumption of water . Recommended intake of water is 2 to 3 liter a day. Insufficient intake of water could be a contributing factor in causation of mental slowing.

4. Start your day with a glass of Lemon water with 2 spoons of honey added. have a good breakfast.

5. While working take frequent regular breaks: Taking regular breaks will not waste the time, but it will definitely increase the productivity, concentration and reasoning. Take break for 5 minutes every 30 minutes.
Close your eyes and rotate the eye balls for couple of minutes

6. Avoid late night socialization

7. Avoid starring for longer time at the computer screen or TV for longer time
