Brief Answer: Post Turp Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX, If you leave a obstructed urinary system for long the bladder tone goes down. Also if he is a diabetic the problem worsens more. generally it should improve by itself over next few months. also you can use urotone ( bethanecol) under guidance of your doctor. in some patients the problem may persist even after 6 months, then it is difficult to find a solution. Ultrasound can be done to see if he has retained volume of urine even after micturating. In the condition he may require catheterization if already not on catheter, and medicines like alpha blocker and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor therapy will help. there is nothing extra that can be done. best wishes.
