Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: Dear Doctor,

I am 33 Year old with 89 KGs weight. Recently i have heared about some athelete and even a doctor of age less than 38 Years have died due to SCD by cardiac arrest.

As i am having very genuine fear due to such deaths, i would like to have an expert advice on the below questions based on my detailed heart reports which are a bit old.

(1) Is their any markers denoting heart problem in future.
(2) Presently, some times i feel heart beat faster while stretching my body in the mid of night sleep or in the day time. Is it normal.
(3) Is their any natural way to reduce the risk of heart problems.

I would also like to notify you that i was a staunch alcoholic from 2008-2012 after which i gradually reduced alcohol intake after being diagnosed as suffering from Grade 1 Fatty Liver.

Brief Answer:
Following answers to your queries!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your reports carefully, and I can admit that overall, nothing serious was noted.

1. From the reports you provided, nothing was found to denote a heart problem in the future. However I would like to recommend to do more a stress test and a holter monitoring which weren't done. If everything is ok than you should repeat cardiac screening every 5 years.

2. Feeling your hear beating faster might be due to drops in blood sugar or blood pressure during night or any other time during the day.

If I was your caring doctor would advise to run Holter monitoring for 24 hours to determine the real cause to fast heart beats.

3. The natural ways to reduce the risk of heart problems include:
- conducting a healthy lifestyle regimen: more exercise, breath fresh air, avoid exposure to closed areas and where is smoking, etc.
- following a healthy diet: rich in antioxidants, no processed foods, no alcohol, no smoking, no illicit drugs

Hope it answered to your queries!
