Brief Answer:
Yes you can.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Atrial fibrillation is a chaotic beat of upper two chambers of heart resulting in symptoms and predispose to clots and ischemia etc. And yes you can control it by staying compliant to the medications you have been prescribed with .

The main aim is to reset the rhythm and control the rate and prevent clotting and coagulation. Many antiarrhythmics like dofetilide, flecainide, amiodarone are used to maintain a heart rhythm. Digoxin is to control the heart rhythm. Many medications apart from them are available in pharmacy that your doctor can prescribe to keep an eye on a fib. This is called medical cardioversion and is very easy to manage with compliance to the medications and regular follow up.

The next aim after controlling rate and rhythm of the heart is preventing blood clots and for that you will be given anticoagulation , we recommend new agents like rivaroxaban, dabigatran and apixaban etc. Some doctors still recommend use of warfarin though. Let them decide what is best for you.

Nutshell A fib is easy to control with medications and compliance to it and you may need lifelong meds.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Regards
Khan
