How To Check For Pregnancy?

Posted on Sat, 5 Jul 2014
Question: I've missed two periods. Day of unprotected sex is on 4/24. I took Plan B on 04/22 for unprotected sex the day before 04/21.
My period tracker states currently 38 days late, 5 hpt, 1 clinic urine pregnancy test also negative. A qualitative hcg blood pregnancy test on 6/13 also negative. Pap Test: normal on 06/10. I am experiencing lower abdominal cramping (light but consistent) for a few weeks. No other symptoms. Can not figure out am I pregnant and it's not being detected, ectopic pregnancy or not pregnant and other problem evident. Please help!

Brief Answer:
Dont worry!

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear!
Dont worry because you arent pregnant because your blood hcG is negative and you have taken emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.

Abdominal pain may be due to delay periods.
To breakthrough your periods you can take progesterone ,more effective is micronised progesrerone like duphastone.
Take 2 tablets per 5 days.

Please take in consideration any method of birth control and dont use often emergency pill.

All the best

Thank you! My stress level concerning this issue has been a 10!! (0-10) Just in addition I wanted to ask a few more questions with this matter. My last period started on 04/14 which was completely normal and lasted my typical 5 days. I did have unprotected sex on 04/21 and took Plan B the following day 04/22. I however with a very "poor decision" then again had unprotected sex on the 24th, which I did NOT take Plan B for. So even though it was within 72 hrs of taking Plan B... it was taken before the fact. Which Google (worst enemy in self diagnosis) states is not effective "before" unprotected sex & also speaks upon ectopic pregnancy probability with Plan B. Would you recommend an ultrasound? Am I just creating the issue mentally? I on average I have always had 26-27 day cycles. My period tracker also stated I was fertile at the time of unprotected sex and would of ovulated on 04/27. Also online... it states some women go into their second trimester before testing positive. How likely is that? Thank you for your time!

Brief Answer:
detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again!
You are not pregnant because blood tests of BhCG tend to have a 98 to 99 percent accuracy rate.
Both urinary and blood BhCG are positive as in intrauterine pregnancy and in Ectopic pregnancy.
Using emergency pill do not increase chances for ectopic pregnancy always.

I imagine that you are so stressed and this can cause a vicious cycle of lack of menstruation for 2 months.
Hence to confirm 100% that you arent pregnant and to eliminate your stress ,you can do TVS (transvaginal Ultrasound). This examination can exclude and organic causes of two misses periods.

Please be calm and do not worry so much
