Brief Answer:
Conception occurs after ovulation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Conception occurs when the sperm fertilizes the egg and this happens after ovulation. Ovulation occurs about 14 days before the expected onset of periods. It might have occurred that you conceived following ovulation in the month of May because subsequently you skipped your periods in that month.

I may be able to make you understand in a better way if you can tell me dates when you had your last periods and when you had sex.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Brief Answer:
Duration of cycles is important in calculation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

I understand your confusion. You might have used any of the online resources at calculating the probable date of conception and found it to be between May 2 to 4. The online calculators are programmed for a woman having regular 28 day cycles and this doesnt happen in everyone. It may happen that your periods are not exactly of 28 days cycles duration and this is causing the confusion. You may calculate the duration of your cycles in the last 6 months and come to an average cycle duration and try to recalculate. Ovulation almost always happens 14 days before onset of periods irrespective of duration of cycles.

Hope your query is answered.
