Brief Answer:
Emp devices emit electromagnetic radiation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern. First of all, it is surprising to hear about such unprofessional behavior by people working as engineers at a nuclear plant. So, if this is the case, you should report them.
Secondly, emp devices emit electromagnetic radiation, not ionizing or optical radiation, so you are safe from gamma radiation (which is the ionizing kind).
Electromagnetic radiation is known to affect devices in a small degree, but it is not yet very clear at what kind, if any, effect it has on humans.

I hope this answers your question.
If you have further questions I'd be happy to answer them.
Wishing you good health and all the best.
