Brief Answer: Medicines are needed to be required for long term Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. I understand that you have schizophrenia and that your prescribed you seranace and ziper forte- both of them anti-psychotics. I also understand that you have already taken them for 2 years. But I would like to inform you that the treatment for schizophrenia is generally for a long term and it may persist for 5-6 years as well. At the end of 5-6 years , depending on the treament response and recovery, the decision to continue or stop treatment is taken. The fact that your psychiatrist has advised to continue the medicines suggest that on examination probably he has found that the symptoms have not been controlled totally. In that case, the treatment may have to be continued further. So the final suggestion is continue your drugs and plan to stop them only when your psychiatrists says so to you. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
