Question: I'm facing hairfall from few years now. With homeopathic medicine hairfall have controlled a lot. however, there is a bald patch at the temple of my head. One of my friend prescribed me to use minoxidil 5% which i'm now been using from 2 months. It has increased the density of my hair and along with that i'm having Biotin 5 MG tablets (VB7) each daily. So i'm doing it right and till how much time do i need to continue taking both of them?

Brief Answer: Minoxidil for 6 months to 1 year Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Dear Mr XXXXXXX Minoxidil is a Potassium channel opener . It acts by increasing the vascularity and promoting hair growth . For the growth of hairs to be seen and hairs to enter into anabolic phase it requires at least 4 to 6 weeks of continued use. For the growth to persistently occur at least further continued use for 6 to months to 1 year is advisable. It's more effective in management of male type of baldness. Also I hope Seborrhoeic dermatitis has been ruled out as the cause of patchy dermatitis. Do continue the use of minoxidil for the recommended duration for the continued action. Biotin tablets should also be used for 4 to 6 months. I hope it helped. In case you require any further assistance, will be glad to assist you. Take care Best Regards Dr T Shobha Deepak MBBS, MD
