How Long Does It Take To Remove Polyp From Tonsil?

Question: XXXXXXX does anyone know how long a polyp removal is from tonsil also how long will i be a sleep for?

Removal of the tonsil itself takes about 30 minutes cut to stittch. But when you add in time for anesthesia induction and waking up.. more like an hour or 2. But even there.. when you get up from anesthesia you're going to be groggy for awhile. So this is going to take at least half.. if not your full day.

I hope so but why wont they remove tonsil can he be this sure its not cancer but it will be biopsied still

Hi there. I really can't imagine how frightening this scare must be for you, considering the history of Wilms Tumor. But be at ease as far as the polyp removal. the polyp itself will be enough for diagnosis. And the less cutting a surgeon has to do.. the better. So i hope all goes well for you.

Hi, The term polyp just means growth. It could be due to an infection. It could be due to inflammation and in rare cases (very rare) it could be cancer. Hence the need for biopsy.
