How Long Does Bisacodyl Need To Be Taken To Treat Constipation?
Question: My mom aged 60 years has problem of constipation since she started the medication of depression, i.e. almost 9 years. Sometimes stools doesn't come out even for 3-4 days.
For constipation she is taking:-
BISACODYL 5mg daily at bedtime since one month.
The medicine has positive effect till it is taken.
Kindly suggest how long this medication can be taken without any major side effects.
If there is major side effects kindly suggest better alternative that can taken for long time.
Medical history and medication:-
My mom is psychiatrist patient since last 10 years.
She is currently taking following medication on consultation of psychiatrist since 2 year :-
ZAXPAM 10,
DOXIN 75,
DEPRAN 10,
TRIJEE -H,
REJUVATE OD,
CIPCAL 500.
All tablets dosage is one daily.
As per her mental condition she is alright.

she has already tried n taken husk previously but has no effect. But BISACODYL is effective. can this medication can be taken for long time?
