Brief Answer:
HPV can cause warty lesions through sexual and non sexual routes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
There are nearly 200 types of serovars of HPV present in the world and few of them can produce lesions to human beings. They can manifest as STD (ano-genital) and Non STD lesions elsewhere over the body (Veruca vulgaris, veruca plana, filiform warts etc.). These non-STD warts can spread through nonsexual contact by manipulation and close skin contact or from environment.
Ano-genital warts are essentially transmitted through Sexual route. Very rarely a vertical transmission (from parents to child) also had been reported. I hope that you got the answer for your query. For more clarifications feel free to ask.

Thank you doctor. Just one last question, if in the case that male penile head touched the outer vagina skin, which type o HPV is highly infectious in that scenario?f

Answered by Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan (3 hours later)
Brief Answer:
ANOGENITAL Warts can occur if the partner has the HPV infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
If your sex partner has no HPV infection, you would not be infected with HPV infection.
If she had HPV infection, just a contact of your penis to her genitals can cause ano-genital warts(Condyloma Acuminata) caused by serovars 6,11,16,18 33.

Is this same scenario applicable in the case she has HSV-2 but without lesions on vagina skin?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan (12 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Absence of lesions not ensure that she is free from HSV and HPV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
I mean that if she was not infected so far, not means just absence of manifestations alone, but not got the infection so far.
Absence of lesions over external genitals is no way gauranteed that individual is free from HSV 2 and HPV infections.
1. Most of the genital parts in women are not visible outside. Even the individual would not know herself about the infection as the inner vagina (other than the orifice) and cervix are not innervated with pain nerve endings.
2. In HPV subclinical invisible lesions could be present. Difficult to recognize. An expert help might be necessary to locate the same.
With HSV infection recurrences are common. In the absence of lesions viral shedding would be present. So new infection can occur in the absence of lesions.
