Question: Hello,

I have a question. I have hpv that can cause cancer, the one that doesn't show sign of symptoms for 4 years now, and I just met someone. We had sex with a condom on, but he went down on me before I can stop him. What should I do now? He doesn't know that I have hpv. Please help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Human papilloma virus HPV is transmitted through skin-to-skin contact with the penis, scrotum, vagina, vulva, or anus of an infected person. Kissing or touching a partner’s genitals with the mouth can also transmit HPV. Using a condom does not guarantee protection since the virus can be on an area of skin not covered by the condom. However condoms reduce the chances of infection.

Under above circumstances, you are not the only person to be held responsible for transmission of HPV should your partner get it. The truth is most people are already infected with HPV and are unaware of the condition.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
