Question: I have a endoscopy scheduled tommarrow. Do you have to lay on your side for the procedure . I was told that I would be asleep for about 15 min. I have had some stomach pain and soreness. Will any type of pain affect them putting me to sleep?

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

First of all the procedure is down with you laying down on your side and being asleep for 15-30 minutes.

Secondly no matter how much pain you will experience (or you are already experiencing) the doctor will put you on sleep. In most of the cases the doctor will increase the dose of sleeping drugs (in most of the cases is used Midasolam).

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

Had a endoscopy today. Dr stated that my stomach was very red on the inside. He prescribed me prilosec 40 mg a day. I was a little groggy so he spoke with the person that brought me. Could the redness he saw be an ulcer or inflammation. He stated that there was no sign of cancer.

Hi back
the redness of the stomach taht you are mentionin may be related with gastritis.
This is the reason why hw has put you on prilosec 40 mg.
Otherwise it would be great if you upload to me your endoscopy report.

I don't have it. I guess he is going to send it to my pcp. How long should I stay on the meds to treat this. He didn't say. I go back in two weeks he wants me to get a xolonoscopy also since I'm 45.Is prilosec better than zantac in this case. My regular doctor had me on zantac before the gasteroligist prescribed me prilosec.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back
You should use PPI's like prilosec up to 4 weeks.

With regards to diference between Zantac and Prilosec ,I could say that Prilosec is the best treatment.
PPI's drugs like Prilosec are a new generation meds more potential in reducing acid production.
This is why your doc has choosen Prilosec to treat you.
Hope ita was helpful

If you have the generic brand omeprasole than you can use it and don't buy prilosec.
