Question: Hello am a 6 2 yr old female and just about a month ago instart d having once a week almost to the day fluttering drummingvsounds in my left ear and the first two times they didn't last very long and I would jiggle my ear and it would stop but the The 3rd time again a week apart I woke up with thec drumming fluttering sound and it lasted about 12 hours and took a magnesium tablet maybe halfway thru it and then was so annoyed I aggressive jiggled my ear with my finger inside the ear and it fizzled out - then last week again almost exactly a week later I woke up having drumming and fluttering and the magnesium nor jiggling my ear helped to stop it and it lasted over 24 hours (a couple of hours after I woke up it luckily fizzled out and stopped- Sometimes when I walk I hear a bit of vibration in my ear like it's going to start up again and have a small dull ache i that ear also - I went to an ent and she looked in my ears and didn't see any fluid and also took a hearing test and she felt it is caused by muscle spasms - what do you think it may be causing it and what do you suggest for treatment ? I am thinking of getting an MRI with contrast as worried about it possibly being a tumor or an unruptured aneaurysm pushing against the ear tube?

Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
The ringing sensation in the ears after 45 years of age is usually due to sensory neural hearing loss.
Please get a pure tone audiometry done and send me the reports.
Any further Investigations like MRI or others are required or not will depend on the reports.
Take tablet cinnarizine two times a day for 3 weeks.
Tablet vitamin b12 1500 micrograms once daily.
All the medicines I have prescribed will be available at prescription only.
Avoid any excess XXXXXXX usage and ear phones usage.
Follow up with the reports.
Take care
Thanks and regards
