How Can Patches Of Small Blisters On The Leg Be Treated?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Dec 2016
Question: Hello ~ For the past 2 months, I have acquired small blister type patches on my left lower leg, above the ankle, to the inside of my lower leg. Some days, it will turn bright red and feel like its burning and then itch quite a lot. Other days, there is no redness at all but still feels like burning and itching sensation. Some days are far worse then others. Some days it will swell up and then other days it doesnt?? Some days when it feels like its a burning sensation, my foot will feel like the "pins and needle" effect. Three days ago, it started on my right lower leg in the exact same area as my left lower leg. I am worried as to what it may be and what is causing it. I would love to go see my Doctor, however, I no longer have insurance ! I have a very ill Mother I take care of at home and had to quit working my job of 17 years.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of eczematous dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Thank you.

Pictures would have been great but going by your description of the condition you most probably have an eczematous dermatitis.
I suggest you to take a tablet of cetrizine 10 mg once daily in evening for itch relief. In addition to that you must also apply a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g betamethasone valerate 0.1% Or triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream, twice daily over the affected area.

Thank you ! I am still trying to load a few pictures for you! I have someone stopping by this evening to assist with it or see why they are not loading. I will be in touch ! Also, are prescriptions needed for cetirizine and the topical steroid cream or can I buy them over the counter? I apologize for my ignorance in not knowing , however, I do not have any knowledge about the medicines you are speaking of. Thanks for your time !

Brief Answer:
Use an otc steroid cream (cortisone cream) for the time being

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Cetrizine is otc. You do not need a prescription for that.
However you would need a prescription for the topical steroid creams that i mentioned.
For now you may try a mild steroid cream (cortisone cream) first if you are not able to get a prescription immediately. You can obtain it otc and use it twice daily till the time you are able to get a prescription steroid cream.
