Brief Answer:
Some information is needed and a couple of pictures also

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at healthcaremagic.

I carefully read your question.

Skin conditions can be caused by disease that primarily affect the skin but also other diseases that affect other systems might cause skin lesions.

There are several things to keep in mind when we have itchy skin that than bursts in open sores. I would appreciate if some more information is given like:
- Do you use any medications regularly. Some medications might cause skin problems and is a good information to know.
- Do you have any chronic conditions? Have you ever had tests for diabetes the last 2 years?
- Is the skin problem mostly in sun exposed areas or it is not related to this?
- Do other people in your family have similar lesions?
- Do you first get some redness while it is itchy and than get open sores?

Kindly asking you reply to this message and address the questions I have asked and also please send us a picture or two, this will help us better understand the cause of the lesions you are having.

Kindly waiting for your reply and pictures.

Kind regards

Thank you for responding.
Attached is onephotos. I have tested negative for diabetes. I take over the counter tylenol and aspirin. Occassionally over the counter asa with caffeine and codeine. Maybe once a week
It is not related to sun. I do not know if my family has similar issues altho my mother and some siblings do have varicose veins.
It itches first and the redness and sores follow.
I was admitted to hospital 15 months ago with an extreme allergic reaction . We do not know what the allergin was. My crp was 262. I stayed 5 days until stabilized. Prednisone was not effective.

Brief Answer:
Some recommendations given

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the reply. There is a lot of valuable information with it.
The fact that other people in family do not experience similar symptoms in a way rules out infectious diseases and having normal sugar levels is good also.
Being not affected with a steroid treatment rules out eczema and related allergic reactions.

I still can not find a picture attached with the reply. You might need to do a second reply and send the picture of the lesions also.

By what you have written I would recommend you to:

1. use moisturizing cream at least 1-2 times a day at the areas that are itchy.
2. Have some multivitamins. Sometimes vitamin deficiency might affect skin and cause lesions there.
3. Some general healthy measures might help also like:
Make sure you have a balanced diet with fruit/vegetable, meat and milk products.
Stop smoking if you do smoke and not exceed alcohol use into 1-2 drinks a day.
4. In rare cases when diagnosis and treatment seem difficult than skin biopsy might be recommended to clearly find the cause and proper treatment of the lesions.

If anymore clarification is needed on this please feel free to write back and I kindly ask you to attach 1-2 pictures of lesions so it might be easier to evaluate them.

Kind regards,

Antoneta Zotaj, MD
