How Can A Tooth Abscess While On Tylenol Be Treated?

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Mar 2017
Question: Can't get to Dentist till tomorrow- suffered since Thursday with horrible tooth aches. My cheek is very swollen and using ice pack. The pain is now going up my nose and also on the side of my head. My gums are real raw on the three upper crown teeth, which I have had for over 20 years. I have been gargling with Peroxide. What else can I do until tomorrow? Forgot- taking also Tylenol every 6 hours.

Brief Answer:
Looks like tooth abscess, higher painkillers..

Detailed Answer:
Hi .
Thanks for the query..

As per the symptoms it looks like a tooth abscess..

Well, taking painkillers will only give you temporary relief..

But to carry till tomorrow you can take higher painkillers suitable for severe acute pain like Tramadol or Ketorolac..
Get it prescribed by an emergency room doctor as they are prescription drugs.

Also injection of painkiller will also provide relief if oral medication are not very effective .

Do cool compresses over the cheek.

Once you can reach your Dentist you can get an x-ray of the tooth done.
If tooth is in a condition to be saved then Root Canal Treatment will be advised under coverage of antibiotics and painkillers..

If tooth is grossly decayed extraction is advisable..

Treatment of the tooth will only provide permanent resolution and not medication alone..

Please write back for more queries..

Hope this information helps..

Regards.
