Question: Hello Dr.Shanthi,

Hope you are doing good & wishing you a very happy new year

I had posted a query last week regarding my acne.
You advised to visit a dermat and also again get the thyroid tests done

My report has come in and it says:
T3 1.2 ng/ mL
T4 10.9 ug/ dl
TSH 0.63 uIU/ mL

I wanted to check with you if there should be any change in my Thyronorm dosage. Currently I am having 137.5 every morning

Also just to update you, the dermat said he wont prescribe any oral meds or antibiotics to me since I am in the planning mode. He gave some creams and gels to apply and take dietary restrictions

Regards, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
please upload the report

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thank you for the new year wishes. I am glad you visited the Dermatologist.

Grossly, your T3, T4 and TSH levels are normal. But to comment specifically, I would need to look at the full report. Could you please upload the report on the right side of this query page? After viewing the full report, I would be able to give you suggestions.

That is good that you have been given creams and gels. I agree with the doctor that it is better to avoid oral medicines when you are trying to conceive.

Brief Answer:
Continue the same thyronorm dosage

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thank you for uploading the report. I have gone through it in detail.

As of now, the report is normal and the dosage of thyronorm is also adequate. At this dose of 137.5 microgram, the T3, T4 and TSH levels are maintained within normal level. Hence I suggest you to continue the same medicine at the same dosage.

Wish you good health and good luck.

Hi Doc,

I wanted to ask you if there are any means to increase my chances of getting pregnant
We have been trying since 2-3 months and every time my period comes I am dissappointed
I try to check my ovulation cycle using online calculators

Answered by Dr. Shanthi E (15 hours later)
Brief Answer:
yes, definitely

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Yes, definitely you can increase your chances of getting pregnant by having intercourse on the days of your ovulation.

Better than using online calculators, I suggest you to use simple home based urine ovulation detection kits like Isure. This way you can detect your ovulation more precisely.

More than anything, both your husband and you must be in good health for you to conceive. I hope your husband's semen analysis is normal. You both must have unprotected intercourse regularly especially on the days of your ovulation. Your thyroid levels should become normal and must stay like that for sometime until you get pregnant and also throughout your pregnancy.

There are several reasons why a couple cannot have baby but I am sure you can conceive naturally very soon.

Keep the hopes alive.

Brief Answer:
Stress can have a negative impact

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Good to know that his report was normal. Lycostar is a multivitamin with minerals. It does help in improving general health. Since he also has a stressful life, it is better for him to continue taking this medicine.

Stress can have a negative impact on sexual performance. I would suggest your husband to keep a relatively stress free life, avoid working long hours, and to get a good night's sleep of atleast 7 hours.

Take care and good health to you both.
