default
Posted on Wed, 2 Mar 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am 29 years old weighing about 82 kgs and 32 weeks pregnant - off late from about the last 3 weeks onwards my gyneac has been measuring my BP and we have detected high BP - yesterday around 140/90 following which the doctor had advised me to go for certain tests and scan - Doppler,BPP, EFW and the following tests -
CBP & Platelets
LFT,RFT
SGOT, SGPT
OGTT
My query:
1. I am concerned about my high BP condition and would like to take your valued additional opinion as to what is going to be its effects on my pregnancy?
2. Uploading my reports and scan - request you to please help me understand the fetal and my health condition ... whether everything looks normal or should I be concerned about something
3. Any preventive methods/medication

Brief Answer:
Precautions advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX , thanks for trusting Health Care Magic.

I have seen all your reports and glad to inform you that all your reports are normal and only important thing now is blood pressure control.

In general if blood pressure rises above 160/110 then there is high risk of bleeding, fetal death and maternal seizures.

But this is an extreme situation which is not a concern in your case where blood pressure is not very high and will be in control easily by simple medicines.

You can discuss with your gynaecologist for blood pressure control drugs commonly used like labetalol and methyldopa as these are safe for both mother and baby.

Take certain precautions like -
- decrease your salt intake as much as possible
- increase water intake
- daily walk
- always lie on side and never straight on back.

Also your blood sugar is on higher side so take less of sugar and avoid candies and chocolates.

Take care

Regards
Dr Manisha
