Do you have sputum in your cough? Then get done a Chest X XXXXXXX and consult a physician.

In both cases whether you have sputum or not , you need --

1. Antibiotic.
2. Steam inhalation
3. Decongestant syrup
4. Reflux treatment -- as reflux of food from stomach like heart burn or acidity--causes throat irritation--take antacid syrup and precautions like--
Keep head end of bed elevated.
Avoid alcohol, Smoking
Do brisk walking daily
Go for walk after dinner
Avoid spicy food
Avoid late night coffee
5. If you have any previous history of asthma , then get it checked and, at home you can take coffee ,which will decrease the narrowing of airway due to asthma or long time cough.
6. For cough you can take --Mulati to chew and swallow.also you can take Benz pearls (available at chemist).
7.Gargles with lukewarm water in glass mixed with half teaspoon full of salt.
8.For gargle you can take Hydrogen peroxide(easily available on chemist shop) diluted with water .
9.Take mucolyte tablets, which will make the sputum thin and will be easily expelled out.

Get well soon,
If in doubt do reply.
