Having Fluttering Sensation, Sharp Pain In Arm And Shoulder. Found Hole In Heart. Requited Treatment?

Question: i have been having random pain in the left arm going on for weeks now. usually every day throughout the day but not constant all the time. the pain is different depending on where on the arm. sometimes its shoulder, inner arm in one spot, wrist, hand , fingers. usually not the shoulder but sometimes. pain is so far never severe and only lasts in one spot for seconds at a time usually. have had very rarely arm weakness at times also. no ongoing chest pains at the same time as arm pain. i have always had chest pains do to gas as long as i can remember. i am 39 now. never thought gas could cause arm pain though. these arm pains seem familier pains to me that i have felt before but you know that may occur rarely an you forget about it. never has it occured this much. a few months back i did feel a sharp pain in shoulder while helping someone move a desk but there was no immediate pain afterwards or since and these recurring pains dont seem to be based on movement. i had herniated disc surgery when i was 25 in lower back. symptoms then caused pain down left leg. i have also rarely had a sharp intense pain in center of back before in spinal region that cause the kind of pain that could knock you down, but it never stays and doesnt seem to be a n ongoing thing. no numbness anywhere, no shortness of breath, no tight pressure in chest area. still a little worried about heart though. i have svt but had a procedure a few years back. the catheter thing in neck and groin. that semmed to correct that. still have some flutters. also back several years ago, my heart doctor found a hole of some sort while doing tests for the svt. at the time he said it wasnt of great concern then, maybe in my forties something would need to be done. 1 year later he said it seemed to have improved. anyway whats the arm pain seem to be?

Hello,

In view of symptoms it seems more of issue related to nerves or brachial plexus.Rarely blood vessel compression at level of neck can cause such symptoms, in such cases a cervical rib compressing on nerves or blood vessels can cause such symptoms. This pain doesn't seem related to your heart.

I would recommend a clinical evaluation and after that as needed investigations like xray and MRI of neck with brachial plexus can help to understand cause of pain. An appropriate treatment can be proposed after that.Meanwhile you can try regular painkillers, pain is significant.

Hope this answers your question. Please ask if there are doubts.Regards.
