Having Abdominal Pain, Vomiting, Headache And Diarrhoea. Food Poisoning?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Apr 2013
Question: Hello Doctor,

My wife was ill since yesterday. She's had some abdominal pain, vomiting (only water, no food), some headache and very slight diarrahea. She's doing much better today.

Is it due to the seasonal change or food poisoning or something else. A week/ 10 days ago she had viral fever and recovered a few days before yesterday. The doctor who treated her viral fever also told her that she's low on iron.

Thank you very much,
XXXXXXX

Hi XXXXXXX
,your wife seems to have some gut infection or a light food poisoning. The viral infection is more common than bacterial. Food poisoning occurs when you eat food of poor hygiene which has been cooked hours back. She is on recovery so you do not need to stretch much just ensure that she is well hydrated and eats sufficiently to maintain body functions. It is well known in some persons to have loose motions when they change place. It is due to change of bacterial and viral flora in the environment but person gets adjusted to it in 4-5 days usually.I hope the advise would be helpful.
