Hypothyroidism can potentially cause difficulty conceiving. This is particularly applicable when the hypothyroidism is still undiagnosed or untreated or treated poorly. Essentially if the TSH is really high, it implies a greater severity of the condition, which may cause irregularity if the menstrual cycle. In such instances, it is possible for the female to not ovulate ie produce eggs necessary for pregnancy to occur.
