Thanks for your query.

Athlete's foot is a fungal infection which develops in the moist areas between your toes and sometimes on other parts of your foot. Athlete's foot usually causes itching, stinging and burning.

The current episode you are describing seems different from your earlier episode of athlete's foot; most probably this could be:
-secondary infection (bacterial cellulitis, pyoderma etc) which releases substances that can cause tissue breakdown leading to soggy skin and painful eroded areas.
-An allergic response (After an episode of athlete's foot, proteins might enter your bloodstream, leading to an allergic reaction that may cause an eruption of blisters that are painful.

In such situations a simple topical antifungal cream like blue star won't be of much help. You need to be treated with oral antibiotics & antihistaminics also.
However appropriate treatment can be initiated only when diagnosis is confirmed. Thus I suggest you consult a dermatologist and confirm diagnosis.

Hope the information was helpful. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Take care,

For the pain relief you can try oral analgesics like Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is available over the counter at most locations.

In addition, I am suggesting you few home remedies done using vinegar soaks, dilute Clorox soaks, and shampoos like Head & Shoulders or Selsun Blue.
-Dilute vinegar soaks or sprays (roughly one part white household vinegar to four parts water)
-Dilute Clorox baths or soaks (approximately ΒΌ cup household Clorox bleach in one bathtub of water).
This might give some relief.

But I strongly suggest you to visit a dermatologist at the earliest.

Hope the information was helpful, if any further queries i am happy to assist, if no kindly close the query & rate it.
