Had Unprotected Sex, Thick White Discharge, Sore Breasts. Could I Be Pregnant?

Question: Hello,
I have a quick question. I am 38 yrs old as of the nineteenth and have decided to try for a baby. I took the morning after pill the previous month in July I took the morning after pill I got my period on August 2nd a little earlier than I thought think I was due on Aug. 6th instead (prob due to pill). In July my last period was on the 7th. Anyways, my cycles range from 28-32 days (the later only happened once recently). My question is if I had unprotected sex on including full ejaculation but I wasn't very wet at all had a thick white discharge and I was on top and did not lie in bed at all after could I be pregnant if my next period is due around Aug. 30th to ist week of September. Also could taking the morning after pill throw off my ovulation date for this month causing me to miscalculate, According to the period calculator if I get my period on Aug. 30th I would have had unprotected sex on August 2nd and that means I only had sex about 10-12 days before anticipated next period. Also I have ovulation symptomsperiod discharge is more white and fluid than it was the day I had sex. As of yesterday and today my breast are a little sore like they normally would be a week or so before my period discharge is more white and fluid than it was the day I had sex. Can I still be pregnant. Also a lot of it ran out of me between that night and the next day. And is it possible to have pre period symptoms but still be pregnant.

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing in.

Let me address your questions sequentially.

The answer is yes, you could get pregnant if you had unprotected sex with full ejaculation, even if you were on top and did not lie in bed at all afterwards.Sperms are good swimmers.

I think you haven't mentioned the date when you had intercourse. For giving pregnancy a chance to occur, intercourse should take place on/around the period of ovulation.. And most ladies ovulate 12-16 days before their next period. Sperm ejaculated in the vagina can live upto 3-5 days in the female genital tract.

So in your case if you are expecting your period on 30th Aug, you should have had intercourse between 14 th and 18th Aug.

In some ladies, morning after pill messes with their menstrual cycles and ovulation date.

Yes it is possible to have pre period symptoms and still be pregnant.

However, not all cases of unprotected intercourse result in pregnancy. So, we will have to wait and see. In the meantime, eat healthy. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. Have plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid Smoking and Alcohol.

I hope I have answered your queries .I will be happy to answer any further queries you might have.

Hello,

Ugh. Yes, I do have a follow- up questions. I was afraid you were going to say this ..."I should have had sex 14th to 18th. Also I have been taking 800mcg's of folic acid for the past two months up until now and I was taking Biotin vitamins 1000mcg's for my hair and nails. Can the Biotin vitamin affect potential pregnancy. The date of intercourse which was on August 20th once with the condom and once without same night. I should also mention that we both had alcohol that night and when we had sex the 2nd round without condom he had no resolution time between sex and there wasn't very much ejaculate. I am concerned that all it was was seminal fluid and not enough semen because what came out of me was clear. Also he is 31 and I just turned 38. He has children so I know he is fertile. I have been pregnant only once in my life from a broken condom when I was 27 years old....sadly I was not able to keep the baby for other reasons and had an abortion. So I have not tried to get pregnant since that time. Also I was not wet that day in fact quite dry and taky white thick discharge (if it was a mild yeast infection can semen swim through this?) as of two days ago my discharge has change to white and more fluid. Just to recap, my last period was on July 7th of last month. A situation happened in July in which the condom broke so I took plan b that night which resulted in my period on August 2nd instead of Aug. 6th as predicted by web calculator. The previous month in XXXXXXX my period started on XXXXXXX 5th. This month Aug. after taking the pill in July ( I got my period on Aug. 2nd. So I was just wondering if by any chance my body held off ovulation for this month back to the original date it should have started had I not taken the pill causing me to miss or be dead on my fertile period. Another friend of mine told me that you can get pregnant 14 days after your last period or 14 days before your next. If the latter is correct (14 days before) when I count on the calendar for the month of August. with a period due date of August 30 and counting backwards from the 30th of Aug. My fertile days would have made it Aug. 16th that I ovulated???? not sure. We had unprotected sex once on Aug. 20th.

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing back.

Biotin supplements are relatively safe in pregnancy.Biotin supplements as per recommended dosage 30 mcg per day is safe. Did you self prescribe this Biotin 1000mcg or did your doctor diagnose you with biotin defeciency?

Seminal fluid sometimes contains sperms , and so full ejaculation is not always necessary for sperms to enter the female genital tract.

Not all women ovulate exactly 14 days before next period. Therefore, there is a range of 12-16 days before the next period.

Since there has been a difference, you were expecting your periods on Aug 6, but it happened on Aug 2. Probably the morning after pill caused it. There are other factors which delay or advance periods, like stress , diet etc. We don't know when exactly your period is planning to appear next.... is it Aug 28 or before September 3, in which case there is still a chance that you had ovulated on 20th Aug.

In July your period arrived after 32 days, In Aug after 26 days. With this data, your expected date of period could be anytime between Aug 28 - Sep 3 , if you are not pregnant.

Hope this helps.
